Changi Airport Shuttle service is an affordable share service which runs 24 hours between the airport and hotels in the city. It ferry passenger from Changi Airport to most of the down town hotels except hotels at Changi Village and Sentosa. It is cost effective if you are traveling alone. However the disadvantage is it drop passenger one by one to different hotels and you might be the last to drop. City train (MRT) is one of the cheap transportation that you can take from Singapore Changi Airport to your hotel. It took around 30 to 45 min from Changi airport to town. However, it does not operate 24 hours and you need to change train at some station to reach town.
Where to take MRT
MRT station is located at Changi Airport terminal 2 and terminal 3. If you arrived at terminal 1, you will need to take the sky train (airport internal train to transfer you from different terminals) to terminal 2 or 3.
Where to transfer train to town
To get to the town, you will need to take the MRT train from Changi Airport station to Tanah Merah station and transfer to the west-bound train (Green Line) to get to town. If you transfer to the wrong train, you will reach the Pasir Ris station instead. If your hotel is at Orchard area, you will have to transfer train at Tanah Merah to west-bound train (Green Line) and transfer train at City Hall station to the North South line (Red line) to Orchard. Renting a car
The other alternative transport is to rent a car at Changi Airport. Dont really recommend tourist to rent car as the rental is not cheap and you need to know which are the areas that have Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) charges when you are in town. The parking charges are not cheap especially in the town area. Singapore is quite convenient and safe travelling with public transport. You are able to reached to most of the tourist attraction and famous shopping area with public transport. However, if you still need to rent a car, approach the car rental counter at the airport arrival hallor you can book online before you fly to Singapore. The rental fare is different from different company. So do your research before you decide on which company to rent the car.
