Universal Studio Singapore is officially open on 28th May 2011 and it is one of the star attractions in Resort World at Sentosa. It will also be the only Universal Studio in South East Asia for the next 30 years, and is a must visit place for tourists to Singapore.

Universal Studio Singapore is at Sentosa Island, located at the southern tip of Singapore, overlooking the Singapore Straits and is just a stone's throw from the main Island.

How to go to Universal Studio Singapore?

By Cable car

Alight at Harbourfront MRT and take Exit B (Harbourfront Centre). Follow directional signs leading to Singapore Cable Car station at Harbourfront Tower II. The cable car will take you to Imbiah Lookout. At Imbiah Lookout,take Sentosa Express monorail and alight at Waterfront station to go to Universal Studios Singapore. 

By MRT and Sentosa Express monorail

MRT is the easiest way to reach Sentosa, alight at HarbourFront MRT station and follow the directional signs to the 3rd floor of Vivo City and take Sentosa Express monorail. Alight at Waterfront monorail station.

Public Bus

Take a bus and alight at Telok Blangah Road. Make your way to the HarbourFront Bus interchange and hop onto the orange Sentosa bus. Take bus numbers: 65, 80, 93, 188, 855, 10, 30, 97, 100, 131, 143, 145, 166

Free Shuttle service

Universal Studio Singapore provide free shuttle service for foreigners thus you need to show your passport when you board the bus. Click on the link for information on free shuttle bus pick up point.

Universal Express

In addition to your admission ticket you should also consider buying the Universal Express ticket. The ticket allows you to bypass the regular queue at participating attractions in Universal Studio Singapore. Universal Express access is a separate line with a shorter wait line at each valid attraction. Valid for use only one (1) time at each participating attraction.

How big is Universal Studio Singapore?

Universal Studios Singapore is 20 hectares (49 acres) in size, occupying the eastern most part of the 49-hectare (120-acre) Resorts World Sentosa. There are a total of 24 attractions, of which 18 are original or specially adapted for the park.


THEME PARK RIDES

There are altogether 7 themed zones in Universal Studio Singapore. There are Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, The Lost World, Far Far Away Land and Madagascar.

Universal Studio Singapore theme 1: Hollywood Zone


Hollywood is the main entrance area of Singapore universal studios. Hollywoord Boulevard showcases some of the boulevard's famous landmarks and stores. There are no rides in this park and its only attraction is the live performance rock-n-roll musical titled "Monster Rock!" in Pantages Hollywood Theater. This park is more for shoppers to shop in for Universal Studios souvenirs as there are a few retail stores and F&B outlets. Lot of photos can be taken here as the park is bursting with dynamic architecture and palm trees. You are also able to take picture with some of the mascots like Kung Fu Panda, Frankenstein's Monster, Charlie Chaplin, Beetle juice and Betty Boop. 

Universal Studio Singapore theme 2: New York Zone


New York zone is a model of the city of New York during the era of post-modernization. It has various icons normally feature in movies and it has a replica of the New York public Library. There are two attractions on this park, one is the light camera action hosted by Steven Spielberg and the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase.

Light Camera Action

This attraction is a show incorporating a sound stage with special effects to simulate a hurricane hitting New York City. There are three main queue lines at the entrance which will later lead to 3 separate rows in the theatre. Steven Spielberg appears on a video projection screen giving guests a brief introduction of the usage of sound stages, special effects and techniques used in different movies. After the pre-show, guests will enter a sound stage to witness a hurricane about to hit a New York city boathouse and experience the wind, fire and explosive effects before a cargo ship crashes into the boathouse.

Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase

This ride is located right at the corner of the New York Zone and is the first Sesame Street ride in Southeast Asia. The ride lasts about seven minutes where guests on board a rocket capsule will be transported to a zany science-fiction plot to stop Macaroni the Merciless in his plot to steal all the spaghetti from Earth. The rocket capsule will bring you through some familiar sights of New York City and Sesame Street and let you meet Sesame Street characters such as Oscar the Grouch and Dracula. 

Universal Studio Singapore theme 3: Sci-Fi City Zone


Sci-Fi City is the land of the future that contains many modern conveniences of life, but with little or no remnants of past inhabitants and cultures that are able to stand the course of time. It hosts the two most famous rides of the whole park, The Battlerstar Galactica and the 3D transformer ride.

Battlestar Galactica ride

This is a dual rollercoaster ride, one coaster is called "Cyclone" and the other is called "Human". It is one of the world's tallest dual coaster themed after the hit television series Battlestar Galactica. You have a choice of taking the "Cyclone", which is a suspended coaster where you hang underneath the track with your legs tangling, or the "Human", which is a seat coaster where you are seated on a carriage on top of the track. Both tracks are intertwined and run simultaneously.

Transformers Ride

Transformers ride is a dark ride (ride-through attraction) with 3-D, high-definition projected images, 4-D sensory and special effects, and large-scale animatronics characters. Transformers Ride sets a new standard in immersive theme park attractions with realistic high definition 3D media, sophisticated visual effects, and one of the most elaborate roaming flight simulator systems ever integrated into a ride-car vehicle.

Universal Studio Singapore theme 4: Ancient Egypt Zone


This zone is base on the historical Ancient Egypt during the 1930s Golden Age of Egyptian Exploration. It showcases obelisksm and pyramids, Pharaohs' tombs and Anubis statues and awesome buildings which will make you feel small and insignificant. There are altogether 2 rides in this zone, namely treasure Hunter mini car ride and Revenge of the Mummy.

Treasure Hunters

Treasure Hunters is a mini vintage car suitable for family and guests of all ages. Guests sit in a vintage car that take guests to a slow tour of an abandoned excavation site. There is some artificial scenery and animatronics animals such as hippos, vultures and some crocodiles which greet you along the tour.

Revenge Of The Mummy Ride

This is a must try ride at Ancient Egypt theme park Zone and is the highlight of the zone. Is an indoor psychological roller coaster thrill ride, where guest are seated in a mine car which travels at the max speed of 45 mph. There are some startling drops and out-of-your-seat airtime, and feels a lot more out of control because it is in the dark. Though there are some steep drops but they are manageable and not as horrifiying as "Battlestar Galactica" ride.

Universal Studio Singapore theme 5: The Lost World Zone


The Lost World is divided into two themed areas, the Jurassic Park and the Waterworld. Jurassic Park is designed base on the popular film by Steven Spielberg where visitors will experience a dense tropical forest where dinosaurs lurk. This zone also hosts the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure ride, a popular water ride in the park. The WaterWorld is designed based on the blockbuster film "WaterWorld", a station that features a live show performance.

Jurassic Park rides
Canopy Flyser

A suspense roller coaster designed like a dino flying vehicle that brings guests up a high distance in the air and travels around Jurassic theme park zone to have a bird's eye view of the zone before returning back to the station.

Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure

Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure is a water ride where riders are seated on a raft and pass through Stegosaurus Springs. Along the way there will be Parasaurolophus popping out of the water, shooting water at riders and other unexpected adventures where riders might get wet. At the ending part of the ride, the raft will drop from a 40 feet height slope where rider will get drenched.

Amber Rock Climb

A rock climbing attraction designed to look like a dinosaur site. Guests must weigh between 34 kg (75 lb) and 310 kg (680 lb) in order to explore the precious stones and fossilized insects located throughout the climb. After the climb, guests get a certificate with the signature of John Hammond   


Dino-Soarin Ride

Dino-Soarin Ride is a children's ride and riders ride on a flying Pteranodon soaring up into the sky and plunging down where riders are able to control the vertical height of their carriage during the ride duration.

WaterWorld

Is a live performance show with stunts and fiery special effects including giant fireballs rising in the air and the stage is set within a large pool of water. 

Universal Studio Singapore theme 6: Far Far Away Zone


This Zone is built base on the popular DreamWork's Animation hit Shrek. The most prominent building of the zone is the 40 metres tall Far Far Away Castle which you will see immediately when you enter Sentosa. The attraction of the Zone includes Shrek 4-D Adventure, Donkey Live, Enchanted Airways and Magic Potion Spin.

Shrek 4-D Adventure

Is a 3-D stereoscopic film, complete with special effects like jumps, bumps, bounces, air blasts and water sprays special effects that bring the action to life. The story of this film is of Shrek and his quest to save his wife Princess Fiona. It is a must watch show when you visit this Far Far Away Zone.

Donkey Live

Donkey Live is an interactive live show where the digital Donkey projected in the screen engages the guests to sing along and even talks to the guests in an intimate theatre. So be prepared to talk to the Donkey and the Donkey will respond to you which will give you the ultimate interactive live show experience.

Enchanted Airways

Is a Junior dragon roller coaster train and it is modeled after Dragon from the world of Shrek. The guests will sit on the dragon train for a thrilling ride with much sliding, dropping and twisting. Along the way, guests are treated to a cast of fairy tale creatures from the Three Little Pigs to the Big Bad Wolf.

Magic Potion Spin

Magic Potion Spin is right in the Fairy Godmother's Potion Shop. It is a mini ferris wheel for children and is not scary at all. It is really good for little children. 


Universal Studio Singapore theme 7: Madagascar Zone


This Zone is based on the hit DreamWorks Animation film, Madagascar. The Madagascar zone features lush tropical jungles as well as two rides, Madagascar: A Crate Adventure and King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round.

Madagascar. A Crate Adventure

Is an indoor water boat ride featuring the characters in the Madagascar movie. Guests will sail in a water boat into the colorful cartoon world alongside Alex, Melmen, Gloria, and those clever and crafty penguins filled with music and mayhem that bring the Madagascar movies to life. It is a ride that will be enjoyed by all ages.

A Crate Adventure and King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round

A merry-go-round ride theme and decorate with all the characters in the Madagascar movie. Riders ride on one of the numerous animals that rotate around on a turntable with pumping music in the background.
