This page gives you an idea on how to spend a day on Singapore Shopping in Orchard Road, one of the busiest shopping belts in Singapore.
Where to look for good food? Where to look for good lobang (Singlish for deals)? Tired after shopping, where to look for rest stops? I will answer all these questions now!
We will start from Shaw Tower which is located at the junction of Scott Road and the start of Orchard Road. Take a MRT and alight at Orchard Station. You can take your breakfast at MacDonald in Shaw Tower.
After your breakfast, you have 2 options. You can go to Isetan department store in the same building or you can cross over to Tangs, the Chinese-looking building opposite of Shaw Tower. Isetan is one of the big Japanese department stores in Singapore and sometimes, usually during year end, you can find golf sets are selling at great discounts. Tangs houses the famous Tangs department stores with lots of fashion, cosmetic and children's clothing.
Feeling tired or hungry? Cross over to Food Republic food court in Wisma Atria, the blue building opposite Tangs, to have your lunch. Take the long escalator outside the building to reach the food court directly. The food court offers a variety of local delights and international cuisines. Just see which stall has the longest queue and follow the queue and you won't go wrong.
After filling your stomach, head down to Ngee Ann City, also known as Takashimaya, the dark red building next to Wisma Atria. There are many branded boutiques like Louis Vuitton, Guess and many more. There is also a big book store, Kinokuniya. I know there are many things to shop for here, but try to limit yourself to about 2 hours. There are many other malls
If you want to take a break, you can pop over to the food area at Takashimaya basement. There are many small stalls selling variety of local and international food. It may be a bit difficult to get a place at times, just be patient.
At about 4pm, you may head down to Paragon, a white building, a few blocks further down Orchard Road. Many branded and classy boutiques are located in this mall. Ralph Lauren, YSL, Hugo Boss, Versace, Gucci and Prada are just some examples.
From here you can go to Orchard Central, the newest Shopping town on Orchard Road. There is a Nike shop for the sports lover, Guess Boutique shop and many more.
You have 2 choices from here. Go to the nearest MRT station, Somerset Station, and back to your hotel or take the train to Dhoby Ghaut Station to continue your shopping spree in Plaza Singapura. It is located almost right at the tail end of Orchard Road.
