Singapore Helix
Overview
Singapore Helix, Singapore's newest icon, previously known as Double Helix Bridge opened on 24 Apil 2010 is located in the Marina Bay area. The architectural and engineering marvel is a stunning 280 meters pedestrian bridge connecting the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort, Singapore Flyer, The Float@Marina Bay and the new Youth Olympic Park. Held together by two connected steel spirals to form a double helix, Singapore longest bridge will curve gently over the water, rising to a height of 8.8 meters at its highest point.
The Helix is a symbol of life and continuity, renewal, everlasting abundance and growth. Look out for four viewing pods which overhang the water where you can stop to rest or watch events happening within the Marina Bay. When night falls, it's a whole new experience at the bridge when special lighting, programmed with varying sequences of effects and colours set different modds for celebratory events.
The Helix is definitely a great photo opptunity amidst the ever changing Singapore skyline.
