Kwan Im Thong Temple

Kwan Im Thong Templeit full name is Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple. Is located at Waterloo Street and is just a few steps from OG Albert complex and Bugis street. It is a popular place of worship for local devotees of Kuan Yin or Guan Yin, the Chinese goddess of mercy. Built in 1884, it is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Singapore and is a fine example of late 19th century Chinese temple courtyard architecture.

Just outside the Kwan Im Temple, there are lot of small little stores selling incense sticks, flowers and others offering items to the Kwan Im Bodhisattav. There are different kinds of fortune tellers to tell your fortune or to interpret the devotee fortune stick sheet. While inside the temple at the main prayer hall is a flurry of activity as people take turns to kneel on the prayer carpet in front of the golden Buddha, where they shake fortune sticks. below are the some of the pictures taken at the temple
